Aiming at the acme of perfection. New features of MVTS
May 23, 2003
Tests of a new MVTS version wind up in May. In deference to the wishes of our customers the new version now features enhanced functionality.
Remote SNMP monitoring The Simple Network Management Protocol now supported by MVTS allows the operators to perform real-time monitoring of the system functioning and gather the statistics of the ongoing calls. The classic implementation of the SNMP procedures permits employment of software from different developers (for example LoriotPro). User gets an account of the current calls, the number of failed calls, registered peak load etc.
Time-dependent routing This new call routing function allows the VoIP service provider to canalize traffic with consideration for the business days and work time of partner carriers. Such an approach adds to the efficiency of the data flow management providing the ability to select the most cost-effective routs with competitive pricing schedules.
CISCO CHAP-based authentication Apart from MD5 MVTS now supports the CHAP protocol for authentication of remote gateways during call setup, which is especially topical with the CISCO ATA 186 devices. CHAP ensures a high degree of security, since it does not include open transmission of a password over the network. CHAP can also be used during registering MVTS with some remote gatekeeper.
The presented enhancements of the solution will be implemented and available in the new demo version of MVTS due for release early in June.
