New MERA Session Controller v.2.1.7 Ready for Release
December 1, 2003
MERA Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that the new v.2.1.7 release of its MVTS Session Controller is now available for use. The release is enhanced with smart routing, bandwidth management and new statistics functionalities. Taken together, these features add to the system reliability, boost efficiency, and optimize peering relationships.
Smart routing
Smart routing is a flexible mechanism designed to control the quality and availability of route paths. Based on traffic data estimates, which are updated every 30 seconds, routes are analyzed for passability and are blocked if their Answer Seizure Ratio (ASR) falls below a preset value. The period for which a route use is suspended as well as the conditions which re-open it for traffic, can be configured by the system administrator. After the suspense period expires, the route is checked again, and if the ASR is acceptable it can be re-engaged. Smart routing allows a significant increase in call completion rate, which enables carriers to improve customer satisfaction and guarantee stable revenue growth.Statistics enhancements
The new MVTS release offers improved statistics capabilities. Now detailed statistics is displayed for each route, including originator, dial peer and terminator data for each incoming and outgoing call. The administrator can view and monitor the following parameters: Answer Seizure Ratio (ASR), average call duration (ACD), peak load, call completion rate, disconnect codes, route status etc. Informative statistics is critical in the analysis and optimization of route paths, and helps identify ‘issue areas’ in the network.Bandwidth management
The 2.1.7 release is enhanced with an effective load balancing tool that allows bandwidth assignments to the carrier’s links. Each local IP address can be configured for a certain maximum bandwidth value for ingress and egress traffic. Every 30 seconds the MVTS checks the links for traffic flow and canalizes additional load to those with sufficient bandwidth. This capability ensures efficient use of the network resources and eliminates packet loss due to bottlenecks caused by link overloads, thus adding to the overall performance of the system.FREE Demo of the MVTS v.2.1.7 is available for download at www.mera-systems.com/download/.
