MERA Systems Launches New Product, Increases Client Base Fivefold and Wins INTERNET TELEPHONY's Product of the Year Award
January 15, 2004
Toronto, ON, Canada — January 15, 2004 — MERA Systems, Inc., a key supplier of forefront technologies for successful IP communications, today announced that it has won INTERNET TELEPHONY's "Product of the Year" Award for its full-featured MVTS session controller. This award is a hallmark of MERA's unprecedented achievements in the past twelve months, which include the launch of a brand-new product and a fivefold growth of MERA's client base.
"Product of the Year" is a prestigious award held annually by INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine to recognize companies which demonstrated their vision and leadership and which have been instrumental in the explosive growth of the IP telephony industry in 2003. MERA has been able to anticipate the needs of the market and satisfy them, and this is a key factor that determined the company's success over the past year.
In the past twelve months MERA has grown its clientele fivefold, released a brand-new product for the calling-card business and launched an international distributor network of eight dealers. Furthermore, MERA's VoIP traffic volume increased six times through global deployments of the MVTS session controller, which is a result of both the expanding client base and business growth of existing customers.
"2003 was a breakout year for upgrade sales of IP Telephony products to come-again customers", comments Anatoly Korsakov, VP Sales, MERA Systems, Inc. "The share of upgrades we supplied last year exceeded 15 per cent of our overall sales. It means carriers are booming and need to adapt to the continuous increase in traffic volumes. MERA has embraced this call for capacity by offering fault-free systems that can truly scale and be easily hot-swapped and extended without interrupting the operation of a peering point."
"The boom of IP Telephony in the Middle East and Asia was another exciting opportunity of the past year," continues Anatoly. "Voice and data convergence revolutionized the regions where legacy telephony had been virtually non-existent. We have registered a surge of interest in MERA product line in Bangladesh, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Iran and other developing countries. In order to support IP communications in these regions and benefit from their huge growth potential, ITSPs must operate cost-effective yet highly dependable equipment. MERA knows what carriers need and offers robust, scalable and affordable solutions, which make us the vendor of fist choice in the new markets."
The MVTS (MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch) is the award-winning session controller deployed for flexible peering of VoIP networks. The advanced signaling and media interworking features allow connection of otherwise incompatible multivendor equipment and extend network reach, whereas the RADIUS-aided dynamic routing capability increases call completion rate and enables policy-based routing.
The MCCP (MERA Calling Card Platform) is a software platform for deployment of a calling card center. It easily connects to inexpensive gateways providing them with interactive voice response (IVR) and authorization functionalities.
