MVTS 3.1.2: New Capabilities For Fine Tuning
October 17, 2006
MERA Systems announces the release of a new version of the MVTS softswitch. The newly implemented functionalities of MVTS 3.1.2 help our customers en-hance interoperability of peering networks and facilitate administration of the home network.MVTS 3.1.2 includes more than 25 new features and over 20 new configuration parameters. The product CPS capacity in comparison with the previous MVTS version has increased almost twofold (depends on the system configuration).
The customer-oriented product modifications address the needs of today's market.
The new MVTS release allows:
- Load balancing among termination gateways; the configuration of a static gateway can include several IP addresses for call termination and an IP address rotation algorithm. The feature allows proportional distribution of traffic among the partners' equipment, which adds to the network reliability.
- Maximum call rate control for gateways and RAS users allows flexible ad-justment of the incoming traffic to avoid system overloads.
- New method of calculating the statistical values (ASR, ACD, SCD) on the basis of a limited number of calls. The new method (in contrast to the old one where statistics were calculated for the entire traffic handled since the latest restart of the MVTS) provides a more accurate tool for appraisal of the operational situation with the possibility of adequate response should the situation change.
- Simplified SNMP statistics handling
Each object of SNMP statistics is assigned a dynamic index that is saved to a file when the MVTS is restarted. It allows the MVTS to correlate every SNMP object with the statistics that existed for it before the application re-start.
Also, there is a possibility to configure the dispatch of an alert to the SNMP client in case the statistical values (ACD, ASR, etc.) reach a pre-defined critical level. - Differentiation of origination gateways with identical IP address by the called number prefix. The feature allows description of one gateway by several sections in the configuration file and definition of call routing rules for each of the sections individually.
