MERA Systems announces the launch of MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch II. The solution is specifically designed to efficiently manage VoIP traffic on large and middle-scale geographically distributed VoIP networks.

The key innovations and technological benefits of MVTS II include:

native support of SIP and H.323 signaling protocols, codec conversion and flexible proxy options;
enhanced routing capabilities based on cost (LCR) and quality (QoS) or a combination of these parameters;
route profitability control and automated blocking of unprofitable destinations;
elaborate analysis and reporting tools (pre-billing capabilities) enabling real-time monitoring of call dynamics and making profitability projections for potential traffic paths based on available pricing and traffic forecasts;
partitioning capabilities for hosted softswitch services;

Modular architecture of the solution allows for sharing the licenses across the PoPs to optimize the use of the system resources and increase the efficiency of VoIP traffic management. Various redundancy schemes (including geographic redundancy) provide for carrier-grade system reliability.
