MERA Softswitches Now Compliant with ETSI/LI requirements
February 4, 2008
MERA Systems announces MERA ETSI LI Mediation Device (MMD) to ensure carrier compliance with ETSI/LI requirements.
The System’s major task is to convert MERA’s proprietary softswitch protocols into the ETSI compliant format. This function is enabled by three different handover interfaces (HI). Handover Interface1 (HI1) is designed for delivery of LEMF interception and surveillance commands to MERA softswitches. Handover Interface 2 (HI2) allows transferring interception results to the appropriate LEMF, while Handover Interface 3 (HI3) provides for the delivery of voice.
MDD allows acquiring, converting and delivering required communications to the appropriate LEA accurately, securely and in compliance with the law. MMD is a perfect product to meet the LI needs of MERA softswitch customers. The System is designed exclusively for MERA products and provides a wide range of advantages both for MVTS and MVTS II owners. MMD is fully compatible with MERA products and its deployment does not involve additional changes in the existing network. MMD can deliver intercepted call data and contents to several LEAs simultaneously. The System is completely secure and ensures that no data is lost due to communication failures. The product adds new capabilities to MERA softswitches without any impact on the network performance.
“With the development of telecom technologies, regulations that control communication surveillance activities of law enforcement agencies become more elaborate. ETSI requirements are among the most widely-adopted LI standards today” comments Konstantin Nikashov, CEO of MERA Systems. “As more carriers are required to provide interception services for LEAs MERA Systems adds new capabilities to its products with MERA ETSI LI Mediation Device. We hope MMD will contribute to the development of our customers’ networks and facilitate their interoperation with LEAs.”
